The House of a Thousand Lanterns, by Victoria Holt

I have read many romance novels by Victoria Holt over the years, but have grown tired of her writing style. I did enjoy them at one time. I am not reviewing all them here.

This is an old-fashioned romance novel, no steamy scenes, and the heroine is married (or thinks she is) before sleeping with her beloved.
Is her beloved the bad guy or the good guy? Who is her friend, who is her enemy? There are many unexpected twists and turns to this story.

All of Victoria Holt's romances can be summarized as this one was, above. I no longer have them; they have been given away or "released in the wild" via Bookcrossing.
