Bel Canto, by Ann Patchett

Read, reviewed, and released in May, 2010

A thoroughly enjoyable and well written novel! An opera singer, along with many other dignitaries and VIPs, is taken hostage in a South American country. The terrorists are frightening, but non-violent. Love stories develop, then a surprising ending -- I won't say any more!

One does not have to know opera to enjoy this book, but I think my appreciation would have beeen enhanced if I did.
