The Scarlet Pimpernel. by Baroness Orczy

Read and reviewed in March, 2011. Released to FOL book sale later.

I started reading this a few days ago. Although a short work of fiction (223 pages), the subject matter deals with some of the horrors of the French Revolution and the Reign of Terror, and I can't read it quickly. The hero, the Scarlet Pimpernel, is an English nobleman who, along with a band of like-minded men, anonymously and covertly rescues some of the French nobility from the blade of Madame la Guillotine.

According to Wikipedia, the Baroness Orczy herself and her family were the victims of the threat of a peasant revolution.
