Read, reviewed, and released in August, 2004
My husband and I both read this, and enjoyed it. It is not my usual genre, but I found it very interesting. It is a fictional 1938 interview with a town's oldest resident, a former slave who was a personal friend of Samuel Clemens. He recounts his experiences as a slave, his harrowing escape, and his adventures with other fugitives and outlaws.
